What kinds of information do we collect?

Depending on which Services you use, we collect different kinds of information from or about you.

Personal Information

When you sign up for an account, you are asked to provide some basic information to create an account – Like you name, city, state and country, phone number amongst others. These information are never shared with anyone in a way in which it is identifiable personally.

These might be shared as part of a large group to help you and your competition generate sponsors.

For example if you are a tennis player in New York, we might club and share your info for analysis and sponsorship sales saying – we have 15 tennis players in New York area.

Things you do and information you provide

We collect the content and other information you provide when you use our Services, including when you sign up for an account, create or share, and message or communicate with others. This can include information in or about the content you provide, such as the caption of a photo or the date a file was created. We also collect information about how you use our Services, such as the types of content you view or engage with or the frequency and duration of your activities.

Things others do and information they provide

We also collect content and information that other people provide when they use our Services, including information about you, such as when they share a photo of you, send a message to you, or create a competition in which you are listed as a player or your team is listed as a participant.

Your networks, connections, teams, and competitions

We collect information about the players, teams, and competitions, (collectively groups) you are connected to and how you interact with them, such as the people you play with the most or the competitions you are a part of

Location information

We do ask for your location so we can show you players, teams, coaches and competitions around you. But we don’t save them in our database. We simply save it on your browsers sessions.

How do we use this information?

Our mission is to help every athlete and competition organiser financially. We use all of the information we have to help us find sponsors for you. Here are some of the other things we use your information for-:

Provide, improve and develop Services

We are able to deliver our Services, and make suggestions for you by using this information to understand how you use and interact with our Services and the people or things you’re connected to and interested in on and off our Services.

We also use information we have to provide shortcuts and suggestions to you. For example, we will be able to suggest that your friend or any other player is in the vicinity or if any team around you is looking for a player like you, or a competition around you is something you might be interested in.

When we have location information, we use it to tailor our Services for you and others, like helping find local events or offers in your area or tell your team mates that you are nearby. (Not doing this as of June 2018. In future we might)

We conduct surveys and research test features in development, and analyze the information we have to evaluate and improve products and services, develop new products or features, and conduct audits and troubleshooting activities.

Communicate with you

We use your information to send you marketing communications, communicate with you about our Services and let you know about our policies and terms. We also use your information to respond to you when you contact us.

Show and measure sponsorship reach and services

We use the information we have to improve our sponsorship sales and measurement systems so we can make results and inform our sponsorship partners on their reach and effectiveness of their campaigns. Sponsors need to be assured that their investment is reaching the athletes and competitions that they wanted to support.

Promote safety and security

We use the information we have to help verify accounts and activity, and to promote safety and security on and off of our Services, such as by investigating suspicious activity or violations of our terms or policies. We work hard to protect your account using teams of engineers, automated systems.

How is this information shared?

Sharing On Our Services

People use our Services to connect and share with others. They also use our platform to discover and be discovered using our search tools.

Please note: All content that is posted on our website by users, is public (Not counting personal info) All pictures, videos, scorecards, schedules, newsfeed posts, etc. can be seen and shared by anyone – online or offline.

People you share and communicate with

When you share and communicate using our Services-Till the time we don’t install tools through which you can control what you share exactly with whom or any group, most of the data you provide will be public information, (except account registration, signing up and other personal information)

Public information is any information you share, as well as information in your Public Profile, or content you share on profile page or newsfeed (Home Page). Public information is available to anyone on or off our Services and can be seen or accessed through online search engines, and also shared by offline media, such as TV.

In some cases, people you share and communicate with may download or re-share this content with others on and off our Services.

Your personal messages that you send to another user, is not shared with anyone, and will never be shared with anyone.

People that see content others share about you

Other people may use our Services to share content about you. For example, people may share a photo of you, or share information about you that you shared with them.

Competition owners will have the tool and liberty to create scorecards. The data they put in the scorecard will reflect on your profile page, and all other connected profile pages. This might also be shared publically.

For example – you are a tennis player who is playing a doubles match – for a team called “Manhattan Tennis Duo.” When you participate in a competition called – “NYC Tennis Wars” – when the competition organiser lists your team, schedules a game of your team, and then further creates a detailed scorecard of the match you played as part of the team, all this info will be public. The schedule, stats, scorecard, will be shared across the website, and can be shared on other websites as well.

Sharing on Facebook, Twitter, Other platforms & embedding

When you share a post, or a link of a post on Caanhub, on a website like Facebook, twitter or embed the post on a blog, they may receive information about the post which might then become available publically or privately depending on who has shared and how his or her privacy settings are. Information collected by these apps, websites is subject to their own terms and policies.

New owner

If the ownership or control of all or part of our Services or their assets changes, we may transfer your information to the new owner.

Sharing With Third-Party Partners and Customers

We work with third party companies who help us provide and improve our Services or who use sponsorships or related products, which makes it possible to operate our company and help share that income with you.

Here are the types of third parties we can share information with about you:

Sponsors of competitions & athletes, their agents, & Audit, Measurement and Analytics Services (Non-Personally Identifiable Information Only)

We want our sponsors to get the maximum ROI on their investment.

We do not share information that personally identifies you (personally identifiable information is information like name or email address that can by itself be used to contact you or identifies who you are) with advertising, measurement or analytics partners unless you give us permission. We may provide these partners with information about the reach and effectiveness of their campaign without providing information that personally identifies you, or if we have aggregated the information so that it does not personally identify you.

For example, we may tell a sponsor how many impressions cumulatively they accrued by their investment in New York area, or how many people viewed their ads or installed an app after they sponsored a certain competition, or provide non-personally identifying demographic information (such as 25 year old male, in Paris, who likes marathons) to these partners to help them understand their audience or customers, but only after the sponsor has agreed to abide by our guidelines and policies.

Sponsors are defined as companies, proprietors or individuals who sponsor an event, tournament, and competition or support an individual athlete. We might share information with them on their reach and other benefits they have attained via sponsoring your competition.

Vendors, service providers and other partners

We transfer information to vendors, service providers, and other partners who globally support our business, such as providing technical infrastructure services, analyzing how our Services are used, hosting solutions, infrastructure management, providing customer service, facilitating payments, or conducting academic research and surveys. These partners must adhere to strict confidentiality obligations in a way that is consistent with this Policy and the agreements we enter into with them.

Is there anytime you share personally identifiable information with anyone or any party?

Personally identifiable info or contact info of a user might be shared under three situations-:

1) You book a coach or an academy for a class. We will share your phone number and e mail with the coach/academy so they can contact you immediately and fix the schedule and confirm with you. We will also share the coaches/academies info with you.

2) When a team/player joins a competition or sends a request to join – (either paid or non paid) – we will share competition organizers contact and the team/player accounts contact so they can communicate further and get all the details.

3) We might share under very rare circumstances; competition organizers contact info with a potential sponsor or an agent in case they want to ask some detailed questions from the organizers directly. This will be done to help you out with sponsorships, keep the process smooth and quick.

How can I manage or delete information about me?

We store data for as long as it is necessary to provide products and services to you and others, including those described above. Information associated with your account will be kept until your account is deleted, unless we no longer need the data to provide products and services.

You can delete your account any time. When you delete your account, we will immediately suspend your account but we will take at least 5-7 business days to hide all information you have posted, such as your photos and personal information.

Keep in mind that information that others have shared about you is not part of your account and will not be deleted when you delete your account. For example – You might be a part of a team, which participated in a competition. In the scorecards of the games, your name and stats will continue to reflect. Your personal info and profile page will not be accessible.

Where is the data stored? Can I get all the data on me that is stored with you guys?

We currently have our servers in Mumbai, India. In future we will have servers in various parts of the world, and will inform you all to review.

How do we respond to legal requests or prevent harm?

We may access, preserve and share your information in response to a legal request (like a search warrant, court order,police request or subpoena) if we have a good faith belief that the law requires us to do so. This may include responding to legal requests from anywhere in India or from jurisdictions outside of India where we have a good faith belief that the response is required by law in that jurisdiction, affects users in that jurisdiction, and is consistent with internationally recognized standards. We may also access, preserve and share information when we have a good faith belief it is necessary to: detect, prevent and address fraud and other illegal activity; to protect ourselves, you and others, including as part of investigations; or to prevent death or imminent bodily harm. For example, we may provide information to third-party partners about the reliability of your account to prevent fraud and abuse on and off of our Services.Information we receive about you, including but not limited to, financial transaction data related to purchases made with CAAN, may be accessed, processed and retained for an extended period of time when it is the subject of a legal request or obligation, governmental investigation, or investigations concerning possible violations of our terms or policies, or otherwise to prevent harm. We also may retain information from accounts disabled for violations of our terms for at least a year to prevent repeat abuse or other violations of our terms. In case of an officialy lodged complaint, which leads to an ongoing investigation, we might suspend your account (without informing) to preserve the account's status and help agencies with their impending investigation.
